Tools & Tips for Female Creatives & Business Owners

Welcome back, Firecracker fans!

Bad news: After the last year, March had the AUDACITY to return again this year.

We’re just going to overlook last year’s behavior and focus on the good news that comes with March...and that good news is that March is National Women’s History Month!

Being female entrepreneurs, especially newer ones, has been a highly rewarding experience. Now, more than ever, we’ve become so aware of the amazing women in our industry and have been honored to gain their friendship, support and collaboration. Because—not to sound like a cheesy office poster—it really is all about collaboration over competition.

There’s room for everyone to succeed in this industry, and we’ve been lucky to find multiple female-driven resources along the way that have helped guide and motivate us in our business practices. Here’s a few we really enjoy:

Freelancing Females

Freelancing Females is a great resource for ladies looking to go out on their own as a freelancer or small business. They provide consistent and crucial tips on rates, time management, new business development, and more. We’ve found that it’s also a great community for women to share job opportunities, challenges, wins and overall guidance. Long story short: it’s dope.

Not sure you want to take the leap yet? Sign up for their newsletter and follow them on social (@freelancingfeemales) to get some much-needed inspo.

Create & Cultivate

Are we obsessed with Create & Cultivate? Yes.

Are we okay with this obsession? Also yes.

Create & Cultivate does a fabulous job of bringing helpful information on a WIDE variety of topics, in a wide variety of mediums.

Taking the dogs for a walk? Listen to their Workparty podcast ✔️

Taking some time to read? Check out their website ✔️

One-time information download? Sign up for a course ✔️

Daily updates? Hop on their email list ✔️

Not to get literal, but they really do get creative with how they cultivate their information. (We get it now!!)

Facebook, LinkedIn & Clubhouse Groups

We’re not just saying this because we’re literally a social media business, but social media is a critical tool for building your business. We recommend diving deep on Facebook, LinkedIn and our new favorite app, Clubhouse to join groups dedicated to female creators and entrepreneurs. When it comes to making deep connections with other women in your field, we’ve found that these groups are truly the best way to do it. We’ve been so fortunate to gain support and even new business from friends we’ve met through these online communities.

Get Official; Check the SBA!

If you’re a small business, might we recommend...The Small Business Association

The SBA has really expanded upon its available resources for aspiring and current business owners and is the best place to get the nitty-gritty, technical mumbo jumbo.

Like, okay, does that Facebook group talk about saving for taxes? Not really. But you know who does? The SBA. Don’t sleep on them!

The final & most important resource: Other Female-Owned Businesses

Women supporting women is REAL, it WORKS, and it is GAME-CHANGING.

While starting Firecracker, we went out on a limb and reached out to badass women that we’ve seen on LinkedIn, read about in articles or listened to in podcasts and have gained invaluable insights from them. As we mentioned, we’ve been so blissfully shocked at the amount of professional women out there who really just want to see other women in business thrive as well. And at the end of the day, we want to see the same thing.

Women in business have finally pulled up their own seats at the table. So, let’s grab a few more chairs, pour some wine and have some fun. (And also, get this bread.)

We hope this information helped all you ladies out there, whether you’re already a business owner or just giving it some thought. Stay tuned, because we’ll be taking all things FIRECRACKER WOMEN in March on our blog and on social media. Give us a follow at @firecrackermarketing to learn more!

Peace & love,

The Firecracker Team
